McConnellsburg, the county seat, is
located on the Lincoln Highway in eastern Fulton County.
Founded in 1786, this small town features several specialty
shops as well as a historic district.
In 1850, the Pennsylvania State House of Representatives
passed a bill creating Liberty County. Later, the name was
changed in honor of the steamboat inventor, Robert Fulton
from Lancaster, PA. |

Along the Lincoln Highway, Fulton County is primarily mountainous
and rural. Travelers are treated to several spectacular views
along this stretch of the highway. There are also many outdoor
activities, such as hunting, fishing, hiking, camping, golfing,
and swimming, available throughout the county.
